Northwest of San José you will find the city of Sarchi. Sarchi is located in the Alajuela Province which is located in Costa Rica's Central Valley. Sarchi is well known for beautiful woodcrafts and hand painted ox-carts. There are many shops in Sarchi featuring woodcrafts and many colorful tropical designs.

The city is located on the slopes of the Poas volcano (semi-dormant). See the tall steeples of Sarchi's pink church and see some really cool manicured Gardens at Zarcero's church (in the Northern limit of the Central Valley).
